Donald C. MacKeen passed away peacefully on October 25, 2017, surrounded by his loving family. Donald was the husband of the late Ruth Crean, the late Patricia (Hollis) MacKeen, and the late Marilyn (McCarthy) MacKeen. He lived in Stoughton and Easton for over 30 years and enjoyed many years on Cape Cod and in Florida.
Donald had many hobbies; one of his favorites was singing. He was a member of the Stoughton Methodist Church where he sang in the church choir for many years, as well as singing in barbershop quartets. Donald was an amateur ham radio operator. Some of his enjoyments included camping with his family and traveling the world, including taking over 50 cruises. On his 80th birthday, he took three generations of family on a cruise to Bermuda. Donald was the former president of the family homestead in Nova Scotia, Cargill Farm Ltd. He was a Navy Veteran and served in the Korean War. He worked at Carling Brewery, A&P, and retired after 30 years at Stop & Shop. Donald will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Donald is survived by his six children: his four sons, Richard MacKeen and his wife Elizabeth of Wrentham, Russell MacKeen and his wife Anne of Lakeville, Donald R. MacKeen and his wife Reni of Plymouth, and Kenneth MacKeen and his wife Virginia of Bridgewater, and his two daughters, Donna Johnson and her partner Dan Sweeney of Middleboro and Linda MacKeen and her husband Alex Sito of Woodinville, WA. He is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law, David and Shirley MacKeen, of Plymouth, 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Visiting hours will be held at the Southeast Funeral Home (Copeland-MacKinnon), 93 Center St., North Easton, on Sunday October 29th from 4-8 PM. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Monday October 30th at 11 AM. Burial will take place with military honors at the Massachusetts National Cemetery at 1:30 PM.
