Raymond Jerome Gilligan, Jr.

Raymond Jerome Gilligan, Jr. recently of Lakeville, MA and formerly of Pittsburgh PA, Columbia MD and Bluffton, SC. passed away January 10, 2016 after a battle with leukemia.  Born October 1, 1932 in Mt. Vernon, NY, he was the son of Raymond J. Gilligan and Margret Lillian Gilligan (Mauer).

Ray served his country honorably as a 1st Lieutenant in the US Army.  He was a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh and had a successful career in engineering sales.  He was an excellent golfer and tennis player with a passion for learning, travel, woodworking and sailing on his beloved Chesapeake Bay.

He was the loving father of Lisa Reilly of Quincy, MA; Suzanne Roberts and husband Gregg of North Attleboro, MA; Carey Flynn and husband Robert of Easton, MA and Matthew Gilligan of Ft. Lauderdale, FL.  He is also survived by his ex-wife and mother of his children, Lucy Gray Gilligan of North Attleboro, MA and brother Lawrence Gilligan of Cleveland, Ohio. He was predeceased by his brother James Gilligan of Flagler Beach, FL.   He took great pride as the 'Papa' of his grandchildren Seanna and Alexandra Reilly, Mitchell and Nicholas Roberts and Cassidy, Tristan and Nathaniel Flynn.  

A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 22nd at 4pm at the Plainville United Methodist Church, 16 East Bacon Street, Plainville, MA 02762.
Ray's ashes will join those of his deceased wife, Lindsay Rogan Gilligan, at a later date in the Maryland area.
