Gerald Wall Obituary

Wall, Gerald T. (Gerry), 70, of Medway MA, passed away peacefully at home Friday surrounded by loved ones. Born of the late Troy Wall and Helen Wall-Chicoine, he was born in Boston and grew up in Bellingham. He graduated from Bellingham Memorial Jr/Sr High School in 1965 and joined the U.S. Marines Corps in 1967. He was a decorated veteran of the Vietnam War and retired at the rank of Sergeant First Class. After being discharged from the U.S. Marines, he worked as a social worker for the Department of Welfare at the old Foxboro State Hospital helping clients with mental illness. During this time, he went on to receive his master’s degree in English at Framingham State University. After receiving his degree, he re-enlisted in the U.S. Army where he remained until retirement in 2000. He also was an English teacher at Bellingham High School from 2000-2010. He enjoyed the simple things in life such as the company of family and friends, music, cooking, hunting and fishing, reading, and his chickens.

Gerald leaves behind his loving wife Sonja Dahlstrom-Wall of Medway MA, and brothers Gary Wall and wife Carol of Bellingham MA, Robert Chicoine of Uxbridge MA, and predeceased by Gene Wall of Bellingham MA. Although he had no biological children of his own, he had three beautiful women to whom he considered his daughters, which are Erica Shaughnessy and husband Justin of Medfield MA, Meghan Curtis of Waterville ME, and Allison Landry of Brooklyn NY. He also leaves behind his grandchildren Tristan, Dante Jr., Jackson, and Alessandro as well as nephews Troy and Greg and nieces Rebecca, Lisa, and Ashley.

His warm heart and caring personality will be greatly missed by all that knew him. He had touched so many lives throughout his years and leaves an abundance of memories and stories. Although death has taken his soul from this world, he will live on through these wonderful memories. No services are planned at this time, as those were his wishes, but prayers and thoughts for his family are greatly appreciated and welcome.
