James “Jimmy” Julian passed on September 17, 2018, a few days shy of his 76th birthday, at Good Samaritan Hospital (Brockton, MA) after a brief battle with pneumonia. Born in Cambridge, MA to the late William and Ivy (Simms) Julian, Jimmy moved with his family to Brockton as a young adult.
A lifelong New England sports fan, Jimmy followed the Patriots, Bruins, and Celtics, but the Red Sox were his all-time favorite team. Jimmy never missed a Sox game, either listening on the radio or watching on TV, and always keeping a detailed scorecard with every play of the baseball game.
Jimmy had recently suffered the loss of his longtime friend, Richard “Rick” Little. Jimmy had lived with Rick and his widow, Susan Dyson, for the past decade and affectionately referred to their son, Richard “Ricky” Dyson as his nephew.
Jimmy leaves behind his sister, Shirley (Simms) LeFave and her husband, Thomas LeFave of Leesburg, FL; brother, Leslie Julian of Berkley, CA; brother-in-law Ronald Mather, of Easton, MA; and many nieces and nephews. Jimmy was predeceased by his siblings Alfred Simms of Gardner, ME; Loretta (Simms) Mallory of Gardner, ME; and Cora (Julian) Mather of Easton, MA.
Services are private. Arrangements by Southeast Funeral Home, 93 Center St., Easton, MA.
Donations in Jimmy’s name may be made to the Red Sox Foundation, which provides charitable outreach to children and families across New England.
