Marilyn E. (Swett) Mahoney-Lightman

Marilyn E. (Swett) Mahoney-Lightman, 78, of Taunton, MA passed away on April 9th, 2019, surrounded by family and friends. She was the daughter of the late Samuel and Estelle (Walker) Swett of Portland, Maine.

She is survived by her loving daughters, Mara Mahoney and her husband Richard Montague of Webster, MA and Kathryn Mahoney and her husband Peter Vandersteur of Milford, MA. She is also survived by her sisters, Bette Thibeault and Janice Guimont, and many nieces and nephews.

Marilyn was predeceased by her husbands Robert W. Mahoney, who passed away in 1990, and Murray M. Lightman, who passed away in 2018. She was also predeceased by her sister Carolyn Bennett.

Marilyn graduated from Deering High School in Portland, Maine, Class of 1958. She was everybody’s mother and loved socializing with her friends. She also loved to cook, crochet, macramé, and sing, which she could do in four different languages. Several years ago she organized the making of two cookbooks, one for her church and one for The Habitat for Humanity.

She was very active in The Free Evangelical Fellowship Church of Easton and is fondly remembered by her fellow parishioners for her kindness. She greatly enjoyed working the refreshment counter after church services on Sundays.

Visiting Hours will be held at the Southeast Funeral Home, 93 Center St., Easton, MA on Saturday, April 13, 2019 from 1:00PM – 2:00PM with a Service at 2:00PM. A reception will immediately follow the service at The Free Evangelical Fellowship Church, 604 Foundry St., South Easton.
