Roy E. Cochrane, Age 72, of Quincy, MA and Melbourne, FL passed away peacefully on July 31, 2019, after a valiant battle with cancer. He was the son of the late Roy and Catherine (Pilalas) Cochrane.
Roy was a graduate of Quincy High School, class of 1964. He proudly served his country in Vietnam as a member of the U.S. Navy. In his post-military life, he attended both Northeastern University and Newbury College where he studied electrical engineering and business while working at the Quincy Shipyard. In later years, he created his own business in the tech field and also taught college classes. He retired to Melbourne, Florida.
Roy enjoyed spending time at the ocean, fishing, and boating. His hobbies included trap and skeet shooting, archery, and watching his beloved New England sports teams.
He was the loving father of Roy, Michelle, and Heather Cochrane, and grandfather to Connor, Devin, Savannah, and Kevin. He is also survived by four sisters, Frances Karas and husband Eddie, Paula Murphy and husband Dan, Cathy DiTocco and husband Paul, and Nancy Cochrane, and one brother, Pete Cochrane. Friends and family are invited to attend Roy’s celebration of life service on Saturday, August 17 from 12:00-4:00 at Cyril P. Morrisette Post 294 of the American Legion, 81 Liberty Street, Quincy, MA.
