Alfred R. Wood

Alfred R. Wood, Jr. of North Easton passed away peacefully on August 3, 2022 after a period of failing health.  He was the loving husband to the late Dorothy (Wilding) Wood who passed away in 2013.  

Alfred was born in Boston on May 8, 1930 to the late Alfred R. Wood, Sr. and Marion (Taylor) Wood. A 1950 graduate of Oliver Ames High School, Alfred then served in the United States Marine Corps in 1951. He served his country as an aircraft mechanic in the Korean War and received the National Defense Medal.

Upon his separation from the Marine Corps, Alfred spent 40 years working as a machinist for Crofoot Gear Works.  Prior to his retirement, he was employed by Astro Gear for 5 years. Alfred loved gardening and prided himself on being a peony expert.  He had excellent woodworking capabilities and strived for perfection in his work and hobbies.  Alfred was a generous family man who loved his family and was dearly loved back by those who knew him.  He will be greatly missed.

Alfred is survived by his dear children; Melodye W. Marks of Newark, DE and Steven R. Wood of North Easton; two grandchildren; Roger W. Marks of San Marcos, TX and Christine Mains of Bear, DE.; one great grandson; Milo.  He also leaves behind his siblings; Carolyn Thorburn of Belmont, ME.; Kathleen Fancher of Braintree, MA; Ronald Wood of North Easton; Kenneth Grover of Rochester, MA and Donald Grover of Rockland, MA.  

Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 7th at the Southeast Funeral Home, 93 Center St., North Easton, MA from 3:00PM – 5:00 PM.  A funeral Service will take place in the funeral home on Monday, August 8th at 10:00AM.  Burial will follow at South Easton Cemetery, 473 Washington St., S.
