Valdemira Stearns Obituary

Valdemira J. Stearns (Amorim) age 90, Formally of North Easton, Somerville and Tewksbury, with final residence in Wilmington, MA with her daughter. Passed away on Sept. 7, 2021 at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Brighton, MA.  from complications from Covid-Pneumonia.

Born in Easton MA on Oct. 1, 1930 to the late Romeo & Adeline (Madeiros) Amorim.  Valdemira was a Graduate from Oliver Ames High School in North Easton, and received her associates’ degree from Williams Business School in Brockton MA.  Raising 6 children as a single mother, she worked tirelessly. She was the Office Administrator at East Design Development Co for over 25 years, and later during retirement worked many years as office/workroom assistance in a family business.

Val also enjoyed helping & spending time with her grandchildren, and was member of the Tewksbury Elderly Center where she enjoyed playing bingo.

Val was predeceased by her late husband Alfred J. Stearns. She was the loving & dedicated mother of Alan L. Stearns & wife Shanon of Westerly RI, Jeannette Belmont & husband David of Enumclaw, WA, Laurie Connolly & husband Matthew of Moultonboro, NH., Valerie Correia & son in-law Delmiro of Somerville MA.,  Eileen LeBlanc & husband Gene of Wilmington MA., John Stearns & wife Mary-Jo of Wilmington, MA, and predeceased by infant son Mark Stearns.

She was the dear loving grandmother of Darlene Horton the late Brittany Stearns; Brandon Franks, Jesse Belmont, Jacob Belmont, Nicole Darst & Michael Belmont; Jason Connolly, Meghan Kantor & Sean Connolly; Delmiro Correia III;  Tara Crocker & Jacob LeBlanc; Jonathan Stearns & Alexander Stearns. As well as 14 great-grandchildren.

She was the loving sister of Vasco Amorim and his wife Patricia of Taunton, the late Daniel Amorim of N. Easton, the late Charles Amorim and his wife Catherine of New York, John Amorim and his wife Linda of North Easton, Dennis Amorim of New Jersey, Francellina Pratt of Maine, Mary Theresa Goodnow of Middleboro, the late Margaret McSweeney of Whitman, Grace O’Gorman of East Falmouth, Jean Amorim of Stoughton, and Linda Pietropaula and her husband Ralph of California. As well as many nieces, great-nieces, nephews & great-nephews.

Visiting hours will be held on Monday September 13th from 4-7PM in the Southeast Funeral Home, 93 Center St., North Easton MA 02356.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, September 14th at the Immaculate Conception Church, 193 Main St., North Easton MA, at 11:00AM.  Interment will follow at the Immaculate Conception Cemetery, 97 Canton St., N. Easton, MA. Following the burial, Valdemira’s family respectfully invites relatives and friends to attend a reception at the Easton Country Club, 265 Purchase St., South Easton, MA 02375.
