Gerald B. (Jerry) Nordling, 88 years old, died Thursday,April 2, 2015 in Indialantic, FL where he had made his home for the past 20 years.

He was born and raised in Brockton, MA, son of the late Carl and Florence (nee Cary) Nordling.

Following graduation from Brockton High School in 1944 he joined the Navy, and was discharged in 1946.  In 1947 he married his high school sweetheart Meredith Hurd, one of twin daughters of Norman and Gladys Hurd.

In 1953 Jerry and Meredith moved to South Easton into a new home built by Jerry, where they raised their four sons.  In 1995 with their family grown, they relocated to Indialantic, FL.

While working in the woodworking industry, Jerry saw the need for craftsmen and furniture makers to have a simple method of identifying their work.  In 1972, he founded Norcraft Custom Branding Irons, where he designed and produced brands and marking equipment with signatures, maker’s marks, and logos for many nationally known companies, as well as individual craft persons.

He was a 50 year member of Paul Dean Lodge A.F.& A.M. in North Easton.  An active Mason in his younger years, he served his lodge as Master in 1981 and secretary for the following five years.  He was well known for the many successful programs and social events held there during these years.  He later was also a member of Paul Revere Lodge in Brockton.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife of 65 years Meredith; a brother, Carleton Nordling of La Jolla, CA; a sister, Meriel Hill of Indialantic, FL; and a son, Eric Nordling.

He is survived by three sons;  Alan Nordling, his wife Janet, and children Dana and Adam of Winchester, VA; Keith Nordling, his wife Catherine, and daughter Erica of Cardiff, CA; and Andrew Nordling, his wife Barbara and children Hannah and Max of Castle Rock, CO; and also several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at the Copeland-Mackinnon Funeral Home, 38 Center Street, North Easton, MA on Saturday April 25 at 10am, with a memorial service at 11am.   A committal service will follow at South Easton Cemetery.

Jerry wishes that anyone thinking of making a memorial gift to please consider the Alzheimer’s Association.  Both his wife Meredith and her twin sister Miriam succumbed to this terrible disease.
